Yoga
I'm a registered 200-Hour Yoga and Pregnancy Yoga Instructor accredited by Yoga Alliance International and have been teaching “vinyasa flow” style classes throughout London since 2016. "Vinyasa" in Sanskrit simply means "linking"; in “vinyasa flow” yoga, movements are coordinated with the breathe, leading to a calmer, clearer, and more deliberate state of mind.
I tried my first yoga class in 2010 as a "work-out" and found it to be so much more. For me, yoga is about grounding, elevating, calming, energizing, discovering, connecting & accepting; it is simply being in our bodies and being aware of how we are at that precise moment in time. It is connecting with the Earth and it's seasons, nature, and the people and things around us.
Having personally dealt with panic attacks and anxiety in the past, I turn to yoga to connect mind, body, surroundings, & community. I believe in treating the person as a whole, as the body and mind are intrinsically linked. Yoga's calming and grounding qualities make yoga a daily occurrence for me, and I recommend it as a holistic treatment for anyone suffering from anxiety, depression, PTSD, stress, and/or insomnia, to name a few. I occasionally lead "Yoga for Mental Health" workshops and courses to introduce yoga philosophy as well as specific poses that can help to alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression, and/or stress.
I teach easy-going "middle of the road" public classes that are both soothing and strengthening, explore lots of movement, and have a focus on self-awareness, mindfulness. and self-care. I tend to focus on what many Londoners suffer from: stressed, tired bodies; shallow, quick breathe; tight hips from walking and cycling; tense shoulders and lower backs from carrying bags and sitting at computers, & constricted upper spines from hunching and stress. My classes offer a space to detach from the outside world, find quiet and peace, nurture, release tension, and open and stretch the body.
I am also available for 1:1 yoga, small groups, or corporate classes, so please get in touch!
